The JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel Procedure
The body produces a compound known as hyaluronic acid to help keep skin cells hydrated and nourished. As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases and the skin cells receive less moisture. As a result, wrinkles and deep creases are more likely to form.
JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel seeks to replenish the supply of this vital compound by injecting a purified form of hyaluronic acid directly into the targeted treatment areas.
When injected into wrinkles and facial folds, the hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules that provide volume and support to sagging skin, filling in deep creases and folds and smoothing wrinkles. JUVÉDERM can also enhance the shape of cheeks, lips, and other facial contours.

The benefits of JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel include plumper lips and/or younger, smoother, and healthier looking skin. Results are longer-lasting than other types of dermal fillers. Most patients can experience the benefits for six to nine months, and sometimes results may last for more than a year.
What to Expect From Your First Juvéderm Treatment With Dr. Light
Juvéderm is a non-surgical treatment administered by injection. You’ll receive your injections in one of the comfortable treatment rooms in our well-appointed office. This treatment is quick; most patients are in and out in under 30 minutes. Feel free to schedule your treatment on a lunch break if you’re short on time.
Before receiving your injections, you’ll meet briefly with Dr. Light. He’ll discuss the treatment, answer any questions, and help you create a custom treatment plan. Precise application of the filler is essential for good results. As you meet with Dr. Light, he’ll pinpoint the most effective treatment areas.
The injection process is over quickly. We use a very fine needle to inject small amounts of filler into targeted areas. Patients receive several injections. The needle we use is very small and most patients report minimal discomfort. We can use a topical anesthetic if needed, but most patients find the injections tolerable without it. Juvéderm contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, to minimize discomfort during and after treatment.
After your injections, you can leave our office immediately. Many patients return to work the same day.
Recovery From JUVÉDERM
JUVÉDERM requires little-to-no downtime; patients may be able to return to their normal activities right away. It’s necessary to follow some precautions for a couple of weeks after treatment, such as avoiding strenuous exercise and exposure to extreme temperatures.
We’ll provide detailed recovery instructions, but overall, most patients receive treatment and return to their normal activities almost immediately.
