During the procedure, a hand-held device is used to move the laser beam over the targeted treatment area. Treatment is performed when hair is in the anagen or growth phase, and sessions are spaced 6-8 weeks apart to coincide with this stage of the hair growth cycle. Areas that are commonly treated include the upper lip, chin, bikini area, or legs. Multiple areas can be treated in the same procedure. The number of treatments that are necessary depends upon the color, coarseness, and amount of hair to be removed. Optimal results may take as many as 8 treatments and annual touch ups.
